Date Night Idea: Opera Memphis and Ciao Bella Dinner

Date Night Idea: Opera Memphis and Ciao Bella Dinner

What's better than this date night idea: attend an opera about a sexy jerk who makes everyone hate him and then gets what's coming to him? A date night where you also get some fun prizes and a dinner at Ciao Bella, of course.

** Congrats to our winner, Molly Oster, who is taking her boyfriend to the opera and a dinner at Ciao Bella this week!***

In all seriousness: this Thursday and Saturday, Opera Memphis performs Don Giovanni, Mozart's famous opera version of "Don Juan", and it's going to be genuinely amazing. If you haven't had a chance to see/hear Memphis' very own opera company, know that the musicians and singers are incredibly talented, the sets and costumes are lovely, and you'll be glad you tried something new.

Tickets range from $33 - $74 depending on seats, and the show is at 7:30 p.m. at GPAC both nights. Don Giovanni is really more for adult audiences. If you do want to take your kids to the opera, Opera Memphis is putting on kid-friendly Hansel & Gretel in mid-January.

Opera Memphis is giving away a pair of tickets, a bottle of wine and a pair of glasses, plus some snazzy masks, and Ciao Bella is offering a $50 gift card so you can enjoy your Italian opera after an Italian dinner.

I would love to take my wife out for an actual date. As proud parents to a 11 year old and a 1 year old activities are often centered around the kids and would be nice to have a night out together. We havent had the opportunity to enjoy opera memphis but would love for this to be the first. Thursday nights work best because the opportunity to find a sitter on a weekend requires an act of congress

My husband has been cheering me on, cooking for me, rubbing my tired feetsies, and generally being a saint while I train for my first half-marathon, which we are both running this Sunday, and for which he generously paid my registration fee. I would love to take him to Ciao Bella on Thursday where we can carbo-load with impunity and then go enjoy some opera "for adult audiences", because we both LOVE Opera Memphis.
