August marks the fifth year of I Love Memphis – can you believe this blog has been around for five years already?! In order to celebrate we are throwing a big ol’ party on August 17th at Wiseacre Brewing at 2 p.m. It’s free to attend, everyone is invited, and there will be food, beer, music, a photo booth, and fun. A group of Memphis comics are bringing back the Break-Up Show this Saturday, August 9 at 8 p.m. at the Water Tower Pavilion on Broad Avenue. Go help them pack out the audience (seriously) because this time, they’ll be filming the show live! If you don’t know, the Break-Up Show is a collection of “true stories of heartbreak, rejection and insanity…performed for your amusement”, complete with video sketch comedy, stand-up, and live stage performances. They’re having another performance on August 15 and 16 at Crosstown Arts.

Horseshoe Casino in Tunica recently redesigned and reopened Jack Binion’s Steak as a bigger, more open wine bar and lounge. It’s all party of Horseshoe’s $10 million expansion. Fancy!
Legendary Southern food master and namesake of this burger, John T. Edge, is coming to Memphis to talk about the past, present, and future of the Memphis culinary scene at a special luncheon on August 14. If there’s anything I know about y’all, it’s that you like Memphis food, so be there. RSVP and buy tickets here.
The Memphis Grizzlies Charitable Foundation needs 1,000 pre-orders on this Grizzlies specialty license plate in order for them to go into production. I hear they need about 600 more orders. The plates are $38 – go here to order and make them a reality.
