If you like wine or theatre or trivia, this event is for you. Next Tuesday, August 19, Playhouse on the Square is hosting the 8th annual Great Wine Performances at its midtown theatre from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. I'm giving away two tickets.

**Congrats to our winner, Katie Harris! Thanks for entering, everyone. You can buy tickets here if you didn't win this time: tickets.playhouseonthesqure.org **

Grab a friend and stroll around the theatre to ten different wine-tasting tables, each hosted by a performer from one of Playhouse's past shows. Answer the actor's questions to win prizes, sip wine, and support Memphis' only professional theatre.

In order to win a pair of tickets ($100 value) leave me a comment here telling me your favorite show you've seen or event you've been to at Playhouse on the Square – the new or old location.

I'll do a random drawing on Friday morning at 10 a.m. (Giveaway ended) If you don't want to wait, go ahead and save your spot now. Tickets are $50 in advance or $65 at the door, and you must be 21 to go.

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.

A friend of mine was in The Importance of Being Ernest way back when, like pre-2000, lol. But that will always be my favorite show I've seen at Playhouse because he was in it.

  16. Jessica says:

I would have to say that one of my favorite shows that I've ever seen at Playhouse (and it's hard to narrow it down) would have to be Pippin.  I was so excited that the new space opened before I graduated and left Memphis.  The show really demonstrated just how spectacular the new space was and the talent was AMAZING! I'm so happy to be back in Memphis and enjoying wonderful plays again!

  17. Katie says:

My favorite performance was definitely A Midsummer Night's Dream, Opera A cappella.  I was a member of the voicestra (an all vocal orchestra, get it?).  It was one of the most fulfilling and difficult productions I've ever been a member of.  If it wasn't a show I was in, I'd say definitely Xanadu.  Courtney and Carla were hilarious, and on roller skates to boot!
