Thoughts On the Memphis Flyer’s Best of Memphis

It's no secret that I love the Memphis Flyer. In fact, I'm such a fan that my podcast cohost Kevin Cerrito and I invited the editor, Bruce VanWyngarden, to come on the July I Love Memphis Podcast (listen here) to discuss the 25-year-old publication, the Best of Memphis issue, and more. Kevin and I continued with the theme for this month's bonus clip.

For the I Love Memphis Podcast July BONUS CLIP, I go on Kevin's MemphiSport Live radio show on Sports56 to discuss a fascinating Memphis institution: the "Best of Memphis" reader poll where Memphians vote on the their favorite people, places, restaurants, businesses, and more, and the results are published in the Memphis Flyer every year.

Will Huey's ever not win Best Burger? Is Owen Brennan's really the Best Brunch in Memphis? Will Dave Brown continue his reign as Best Weatherman? Can you handle my shameless plug for your vote for Best Blog/Website/Twitter/Instagram? Listen to hear our thoughts on the matter, and if you haven't voted yet, you have until July 30. Go here to vote.

If you haven't subscribed to the I Love Memphis podcast, you can do so on iTunes here. I also highly recommend listening to the full MSL show from last week…Kevin had an hour-long interview with the one and only Prince Mongo. You can listen here.

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.
