This weekend, join in one of the group bicycle rides around town to the National Ornamental Metal Museum (or just go there) for the fourth annual Bikesploitation film, music, and art festival.

Starting at 11:50 a.m. this Saturday, riders of all levels will meet up a several points around Memphis and head towards the Metal Museum to arrive en masse by 2 p.m., when the event gets started.

After that, you can check out a half-dozen interactive art exhibits - including a live sculpture demonstration by Eli Gold and the Metal Museum staff - a mural competition, a bicycle photo booth by "Boys II Lens",  cargo bike race, BMX demo, and a mini bike race (as the Bikesploitation site says: "grown folks on tiny bikes"). The Mobile Music Machine (15-foot bicycle trailer with live musicians) will provide the tunes.

After a gallery reception and awards ceremony ("Best Use of a Bicycle", etc.) there will be a film screening at 8:30 p.m. before a group ride into downtown Memphis for the after-party (location TBA).

The event is open to bicycle lovers of all ages, and they'll have drinks for sale and food from Fuel Food Truck and New Belgium Brewing. Bikesmith and Start2Finish will provide bike valets. You really should check out the full schedule here.
