Monday News Update + Photo Recap: Bye Bye Bayless Edition

Hello! I'm traveling today, but here's a quick and dirty news update and photo roundup.

Jerryd Bayless has been traded to the Boston Celtics for Courtney Lee (shooting guard). When it was good, it was really good, and I wish him all the best.

The Science of Beer is a one day exhibit at the Pink Palace where you can learn about the brewing process, taste beer, and participate in beer-themed crafts. It's on January 17.

Spillit Memphis is hosting another Story Slam on January 31. From the Facebook event page: "If you want to tell your five minute story, you'll drop your name in the bucket. We'll draw up to eight names and each person will have five minutes to win over the audience and three judges."  The theme for this event's stories is "Kodachrome Moments." If you want to listen to past Spillit Memphis stories, you can download the podcasts here.

The AutoZone Park ownership situation is a complicated one, so let me direct you to this Commerical Appeal article to help explain it. Some folks are planning to meet up tomorrow (Tuesday, January 7) to rally in support of the "City's proposed partnership with the St. Louis Cardinals and purchase of AutoZone Park." You can visit the Facebook event page for the rally here.

Here are a few of your photos from the weekend. As always, tag 'em if ya got 'em: #ilovememphis.

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.

Do you author the website " ?

  3. Holly Whitfield says:

Ralph, I'm not the author of, but that site is run by my employer, the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau. From time to time, something I write or a photo I took might appear on that site, but I'm not the primary author.
