5 Things To Do in Memphis This Weekend: 11/22 - 11/24

Happy Friday, everyone! Here are the five events you won't want to miss in Memphis this weekend.

1. Memphis International Jazz Festival, South Main Historic Arts District, Nov. 21 - 24, all weekend, $0 - $20, 18+ (some venues are 21+)

The Memphis International Jazz Festival includes shows, performances, and panels at half a dozen venues in the South Main Arts District this weekend. Ernestine and Hazel's is closing it out on Sunday with a free Jazz Jam at 8:30 pm.

2. Flip the Switch Party, AutoZone Park, Nov. 22, 4:30 p.m. -  6 p.m., free, all ages

They're turning on the lights at "Rockeyfeller Center" this Friday, with the tree lighting at 5 p.m., followed by music and appearances by Rockey, Grizz and the Claw Crew, McGruff the Crime Dog and the Chik-Fil-A Cow.

3. Holiday Bazaar, Memphis College of Art, Nov. 22 and 23, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Friday / all day Saturday, free

Get your shopping done early at MCA's 64th annual Holiday Bazaar. MCA students will be selling their work, which means that you can pick up paintings, drawings, books, ornaments, pottery and gifts by up and coming artists at super reasonable prices.

4. Chapstik, Downstairs "Caverns" of The Brass Door and The Mad Earl (150/152 Madison Ave.), Nov. 22, 8 p.m., $10, 21+

A group of lady musicians and artists is having a throwdown tonight on Madison Avenue. Alicja Trout's new group The Cookie Crumbs, Thelma and the Sleaze out of Nashville, and DJ EPK will play, plus neon hoop dancing, welding and metalwork, a gal doing something called "manipulighting".

5. Santa Landing and Enchanted Forest Opening, Nov. 23, 9 a.m. (otherwise open when the museum is open), free to see Santa land, $6 adults / $5 kids to enter the Forest

On Saturday morning, Santa is flying in from the North Pole in a helicopter and he's going to land on the lawn of the Pink Palace and mark the opening of the Enchanted Forest, an animatronic wonderland filled with decorated trees. The Forest is open through Dec. 31.

If none of these work for you, there are a ton more on the blog's calendar.

I Love Memphis has a shiny new official Instagram account: @ilovememphisblog, so please follow me there if you're so inclined.

I'll be on 101.9 Radio Now this afternoon at about 4:40 talking about some of these events, so thanks to DJ Bret for inviting me on.

As you're out and about this weekend, tag your Instagram photos and Tweets #ilovememphis. You photos might show up here in the future or on the Monday weekend recap. Have fun!
