Today in Memphis, we celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Hurricane Elvis, get new parking meters and walk right up to the ultimate gastronomical threshold and laugh in its face.

- Today marks the 10-year anniversary of Hurricane Elvis. For those of you who don't remember, it was essentially the world's worst thunderstorm: 100mph straight-line winds, rain, tons of damage and power outages that lasted, in some cases, two weeks.

- Downtown is getting new parking meters this fall. There will be more than 500 of them, and they'll accept credit cards.

- Fancy grocery store chain Fresh Market is eyeing the corner of Union and McLean (the one right next to where the fancy new Kroger is being built).

- This is it - there is nothing beyond this point. Let's just give up now.

- This list is a lie. You guys are all very attractive.

- Also, for the last time,  we're not Detroit, ok?

- Recently departed blues singer DiAnne Price received a well-deserved star on Beale Street over the weekend.

- Don't forget that voting is open in the Flyer's Best of Memphis until the 28th. If you'd like to toss a vote my way for best blog and best Twitter account, I would be most appreciative.
