5 Things to Do in Memphis This Weekend: 7/26 – 7/28
Happy Friday! Here are five events you won't want to miss in Memphis this weekend:
It's the last Friday of the month, which means that it's trolley tour night. From 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., the downtown trolleys will be free and the South Main Arts District will throw down with art openings, sales, food trucks, street performances and all kinds of good (free) times.
Tonight's a special night of the Orpheum's summer movie series: a ghost movie double feature. "Ghostbusters" will be shown first, followed by a less family-friendly screening of "Poltergeist". Admission is $7 and includes both shows.
Rock'n'Dough pizza is hosting a pizza and wine party at Central Station Pavillion (where the downtown farmers market is held) on Saturday night. For $25, you get pizza by the slice and four glasses of wine (which sounds like a pretty great deal), and there will be live music from Faith Evans and the Misti Rae Trio.
Bingo: it's not just for the super young or the super old anymore. On Saturday night, Jimmy Tightpants is hosting "Blingo" at Five in One Social Club. It's free to play, and they'll have prizes (knowing them, they'll be great prizes) and High Cotton Saison on tap.
End your weekend / start the week with an evening of loud, fast punk rock at the Buccaneer. Three bands – the Glory Holes, Kitten Forever and SVU – will play, cover is only $5, and the show is starting early (for the Buccaneer).
If none of these events butter your biscuit, check the calendar for more. No matter what you do this weekend, I hope you have a blast. Come back and tell me about it on Monday.
