Save the Date: Record Store Day 2013
Indulge your inner audiophile and support Memphis' independent record stores by picking up limited edition vinyl on Record Store Day:
Since 2007, independent record store owners and musicians have celebrated Record Store Day with live in-store performances, sales, and special Record Store Day-exclusive releases.
Here's a full list of all of the special RSD releases. If you perfer the Reader's Digest version, Stereogum has a list of the 10 most anticipated exclusives. Personally, I'm excited for the special 12" pressing of Big Star's "Nothing Can Hurt Me" and the Iron and Wine, Best Coast and NoBunny singles. If you're into "Game of Thrones", the Hold Steady (featuring Memphis' own Steve Selvidge) is releasing a 7" featuring lyrics written by George R.R. Martin.
In Memphis, both Goner Records and Shangri-la are participating. Both will have the special RSD releases in stock on Saturday. Shangri-la is making a weekend out of it with their spring record swap and clearance sale on Sunday from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. They'll have hundreds of LPs, 45s, posters, DVDs and equipment on sale. If you've got stuff you'd like to buy, sell or trade, it's only $10 to set up a table.
