Happy Friday, y'all! Here are five things you'll want to do in Memphis this weekend:

(Side note: when I was in college, there was an on-campus super hero named Happy Friday Guy. He rode through campus on a scooter at noon on Fridays, throwing candy and yelling "HAPPY FRIIIIIIIIDAY!" We need one a Memphis version.)

1. Side Street Steppers CD Release Party, Otherlands Coffee, Friday, 7 p.m., free

Side Street Steppers are releasing their second record "The Sweestest Peaches Don't Grow On Trees" tonight at Otherlands Coffee. They're one of Memphis' most charming bands, and their sound is straight out of the 1920s. Tonight's show is free, and they'll have peach pie and cobbler, plus burlesque and belly dancers.

2. MemFix Walker and Highland, the Highland Strip, April 13, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., free, all ages

MemFix is turning Walker and Highland (aka, the Highland Strip) into an ideal street for the day on April 13th. Empty storefronts will be filled, traffic will be tamed, and there will be performances and activities suitable for all ages. MemFix, which has happened previously in Overton Square and Crosstown, is designed to grow business and neighborhood development by showing Memphians what's possible on a given street.

3. Overton Square Crawfish Festival, Overton Square, April 13, 12 p.m. – 6 p.m., free, all ages

The annual Overton Square Crawfish Festival is so big that it takes over the whole square, shutting down Madison Ave. for an afternoon of eating, drinking, shopping and live music. This year, proceeds from the festival will benefit Creative Aging Mid-South and Revolutions Bike Co-Op.

4. Rock'n'Romp, Mud Island River Park, Saturday, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m., free for kids / $5 for adults

Mud Island River Park officially opens this weekend with the first Rock'n'Romp show of the season. If you've never been to Rock'n'Romp, here's how it works: local bands play a mid-afternoon show, there's free food, and lots of fun things (like games, crafts, and at Mud Island, a fountain to run through). There's one catch: you must have someone under the age of 18 with you to attend.

5. Tour de Grizz, Memphis Zoo, Saturday, Zoo admission starts t 1 p.m., ride starts at 5 p.m., $30 for terrace level / $60 for club level

The annual Tour de Grizz is sort of like the Tour de France, in that they both involve bicycles. Tour de Grizz is probably more fun: it's an afternoon at the zoo, followed by an escorted group ride downtown for a Grizzlies game. The ride is all ages, and your ticket includes admission to the Zoo starting at 1 p.m., admission to the game, and valet bike parking at the Forum.
