This is What Amy LaVere Would Have Sounded Like During the Depression
This is cool: director Alex Steyermark is traveling around the country recording modern musicians using a single michrophone and a 1930s PRESTO direct-to-disc recorder. It's called the 78 Project, and it's already featured two Memphis musicians, Valerie June and Amy LaVere.
Here's what Amy LaVere would have sounded like in the 1930s:
And here's what Valerie would have sounded like. Isn't her voice is already kind of perfect for this sort of thing?
