Wednesday News Update: One-Stop-Shop Edition
Today in Memphis, restaurants close, restaurants open, a reader finds an innovative one-stop-shop, and "The Sandlot" turns 20.

- First, the sad restaurant news: The Butcher Shop's downtown location is closing on Oct. 26th to make way for a residential project. Their Cordova location will stay open. Also, Neely's Barbecue is taking a little break and closing their restaurants for renovations.
- But all is not lost: Balewa (aka, the guy who sells vegan food out of Sean's Cafe on Union) is opening his own restaurant in Crosstown.
- And if you needed even more good food news, lemon pepper wing devotee / rapper Rick Ross has opened a second Wing Stop franchise at Poplar and Perkins.
- Does this make anyone else feel old? The Redbirds are hosting a special screening for the 20th anniversary of "The Sandlot" at AutoZone Park on Oct. 19th. David Mickey Evans, the film's writer/director, will introduce the film.
- Here's one from an eagle-eyed reader: Craig M. sent me this picture from We Sell Tools at Summer and Kirby-Whitten. He writes: "In a moment of inspired brilliance the owner of We Sell Tools at Summer and Kirby-Whitten included a beer aisle in the tool store." It's his understanding that the shop is locally owned.
- Clean out your cabinets before you head to the downtown farmer's market this weekend: the market is collecting non-perishable food and unused personal care items for the Mid-South Food Bank on Saturday.
