Five Minute Food Review: Veggie Plate from Three Angels Diner (Closed)

On any given day, the white board at the back of Three Angels Diner has a long list of the day's vegetable specials. Just once, skip ordering the Diner Steamie or Yesterday's Fried Chicken and give the veggie plate a try.

Veggie Plate, Three Angels Diner, Memphis, Tenn.

It doesn't really matter what vegetables are being offered - just pick whichever two or three or four look the best. Some of them, like sliced tomatoes with salt and pepper, may seem basic, but the crew at Three Angels knows that often, simple is best.

Today, I had the griddle fried green tomatoes, the yellow squash with cilantro and jalepenos and the scalloped potatoes. The tomatoes were crispy and warm with just a little bit of spice, and the squash had tons of flavor. The potatoes were the best part, though. They were so rich and creamy that they could have passed as dessert (and / or been eaten with a spoon).

Three Angels Diner is open daily from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. most nights. They've got plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, are family friendly and have a full bar.

But $10.50 for a 3 veggie plate is way too much even if they are fabulous. And I have seen there SKINNY size portions.
