– Hotel, motel, Holiday Inn: Today is the made-in-Memphis hotel chain's 60th birthday.

– Signs that we're inching ever closer to the most wonderful time of the year: the Grizzlies have finalized their lineup and announced their 2012-2013 schedule.

– Now where are we going to sober up? Seven of the Memphis area CK's have closed rather suddenly. Only the ones at Poplar and Evergreen and Shelby Dr. and Winchester remain open.

– If you've ever wanted to understand Memphis rap, here's everything you need to know in one excellently written Fader story. (Thanks for the tip, WarRock.)

– Finally, someone asks the most important question about Beale Street.

– For those of you who are the running kind, registration is open for the Cooper-Young Four Miler.

– I'm not sure what's going on here, other than that apparently, combining Kool-Aid and pickles is possible.

As always, if you've got a tip or something you'd like to see featured on I Love Memphis, let me know. If you've got an upcoming event (or know about a good one), submit it to the blog's calendar.
