If you've got $8 bucks and a healthy appetite, go ahead and complete assignment #218 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis: gorge yourself at the Pho Binh lunch buffet.

The Pho Binh lunch buffet is a favorite of just about everybody because, frankly,it's really difficult to find fault with a $5 now $7.49 all-you-can eat lunch buffet. It's also way tastier than anything that inexpensive has any right to be.

The selection is just about the same every day, vegetarian items (lemongrass tofu, curry, tofu and vegetables) on one side and meat dishes on the other (chicken and pineapples, beef and vegetables, etc.). They've also got two soups (usually hot and sour and clear), plenty of rice, and a fruit and salad bar.

They also have - get this - excellent fried chicken on the buffet, but you have to get there early and wait/watch carefully. When I went there, folks were waiting just for the chicken to be put out and then pounced on it. The bin was empty in an instant, but I snagged a few pieces and it was worth the hype.

It's not fancy, but when you're broke and hungry, it's perfect.
