365 Things to Do in Memphis #206: See the Ghost of Mollie Woodruff
The tale of Mollie Woodruff is one of Memphis' best ghost stories. Though she was part of a wealthy family, her life was marked with hardship (like the deaths of her children and husband). When she died, it's said that she came back to haunt her old house in what is now Victorian Village.
Assignment #206 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to see the ghost of Mollie Woodruff (if you can see those sorts of things) and the rest of the Woodruff-Fontaine House museum.
The Woodruff-Fontaine house, which was completed in 1871, is one of the only houses in Victorian Village that's open regularly as a museum. It's completely restored and furnished in the opulent, velvety style of the period.
Here's more info and photos of the Woodruff-Fontaine House.
