Get a Bucket of Crawfish at Rajun Cajun Crawfish Festival

Every year, thousands of crawfish fans flock to downtown Memphis for the annual Rajun Cajun Crawfish Festival, the largest mudbug fest in the city.

The 31st annual Rajun Cajun Crawfish Festival takes place along the riverfront on Riverside Dr. on Sunday, April 21, 2024.

From 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., the Rajun Cajun crew will cook, season, and serve more than 17,000 pounds of crawfish.

There will be live music on two stages, vendors, a gumbo cooking contest, and all sorts of crawfish-related games (bobbing for crawfish, crawfish eating, crawfish racing, crawfish eating contests). Access to the River Garden Park will be available for kids to play.

The family friendly festival takes place Downtown Memphis on Riverside Drive (between Jefferson and Union.) Admission is free, but you can buy VIP tickets for all-you-can eat/drink Swamp tent.

The festival features live swamp soul, rhythm & blues entertainment from Dikki Du and The Zydeco Krewe on the Orion Main Stage and Freeworld on the Southland Casino Hotel Riverside Stage.

Proceeds from the 31st annual festival supports programs and services that Porter-Leath provides for over 40,000 local children and families.

Build your perfect Memphis meal:

I love to eat so if I were to have only one meal left.. I’m going all out. I’d start with an app of Gumbo Fries from Blue City Cafe or Bayou Fries from Chef Tam, wings from Good Fortune or Central’s (honey gold and Jamaican Jerk), potato salad from Fat Larry’s, side of bbq spaghetti from Bar-B-Q Shop, and fried okra from Soul Fish. All paired with a Beale Street Brewing Space Age Sippin’.

Your most memorable Memphis moment:

College GameDay on Beale Street. That was an electric and perfect morning. I was still working in news then and was able to take it in up close and on the stage at some points. The fun and joy of everyone down there that morning is unbeatable.

This looks like fun.  This has to be the only time I would advise sitting on a railroad track.  The crawfish looks good.   I wish I knew how to eat crawfish, but I get intimidated by the shells, but the food looks great. I might have to come by this one for the fun.  thanks
