365 Things to Do in Memphis, Day 5: See a Movie at the Brooks

The Brooks Museum of Art is a great place to spend an afternoon seeing special visual art exhibits and having lunch. It’s also a great place to catch a movie.

I’m not talking about seeing one of those short, often dry informational films that’s designed to kick off a museum tour. I’m talking about independent  films, documentaries, shorts and small film festivals.

The Brooks has a small theater on its lower level where they show movies on Thursday nights and most weekend afternoons. They’ve shown everything from obscure music documentaries to bigger indie films that didn’t have regular runs in Memphis and locally made gems.

All of the films are $6 for Brooks members and $8 for non-members (still cheaper than a regular movie). You can also pick up a VIP film pass that will get you into all of the screenings for $42 per year.

See what’s playing next.

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.
