Random Chocolatey Treat of the Week

The truffles from Memphis-based confectioner Chocistry are so pretty, it’s almost hard to eat them. Almost.

Take a look at the fancy gold fleck on this guy:

And this is what’s inside of that dark chocolate shell – a rich liquid caramel with an almost citrusy flavor:

Chocistry’s founder, Phillip Ashley Rix, takes a scientific, detail-oriented approach to dessert, combining flavors and textures in creative, surprising ways. There are white chocolate truffles stuffed with lemongrass and coconut, brownies made with Chevre goat cheese and lavender and sea salt caramels.  This is, as Phillip told me, serious chocolate.

Phillip is hoping to have a storefront up and running soon. In the meantime, you can order Chocistry online, where a read through of the lists of truffles and sweets will get you plenty hungry.
