A Campfire, A Big Night for Wonks and More Winter Weather (Plus Memphian #25)

365 Memphians - Rekieta Jones

Rekeita is a student in the English 1020 class that I talked to at the U of M this morning. Despite the early hour (8 a.m.), she was all smiles.

In other news:

- For the third week in a row, Memphis has a winter weather advisory. We might get one inch of snow. We might get three inches of snow. More likely, it'll probably just get really cold and rain.

- The Memphis Botanic Garden is choosing to mock the cold weather by having a winter bonfire on Friday night in My Big Backyard. It's family friendly, with plenty of stargazing, activities, snacks and cider. Admission is $5, but you have to make reservations (call 636-4131).

- If you're looking for something to do tonight, your options are a little wonk-ish. It's trivia night at the Flying Saucer, the P&H and the Cove, the State of the Union address is on, and there's going to be a televised debate about the future of the Memphis City Schools.
