The Start of a Season (and TV show) and the End of the MIFA Store
I took this last night (technically this morning) while eating a burger at Alex's Tavern. I love the notes taped up behind the bar. The big one says "For fast and efficient service, don't yell HEY ROCK!", and the smaller says "Rhodes college, please tip please."
In other news:
- It's so almost basketball season. Tonight, the Grizzlies have their first pre-season game against the Indiana Pacers at the FedEx Forum at 7 p.m. This marks the start of the Grizzlies' tenth season in Memphis, so come out and celebrate. Maybe this will be our year.
- I've got some bad news for thrift store lovers. The MIFA thrift store is set to close at the end of October. In the meantime, they've got some awesome sales. This week, all women's dresses are two-for-one. Their Facebook page will be updated with specials on their remaining inventory.
- Made-in-Memphis horror TV show "Savage County" is premiering tomorrow night on MTV2 at 10 p.m. The series, which isn't set in Memphis, was filmed here last year. Need a sneak peek? Watch the trailer.
