Our Free Art Museum: Memphis Public Art Map
Maybe it's something in our delicious water, but Memphis seems to grow a ton of hyper-talented creative innovators. While we're most well known for all of our amazing musical talent, Memphis is home to an impressive collection of visual artists.
Thanks to the Urban Arts Commission, the city and the artists' own guerilla skills, many of these awesome works are on public display all over town.
The pieces, which range from murals to sculptures to complete oddities, are spread out all over the city. Think of it as a free public art museum.
In 2011, a group of Rhodes College students founded the Memphis Art Project, a map and directory of all the public art in the city. Today, students still run the website, which you can check out here. You can also follow them on Instagram here.
