An Egg, A Kick-Off, and Bass Pro's Plans for the Pyramid

Egg Yolk by Gak

This egg and hand sculpture showed up on an empty building around the corner from my house sometime in the last week or so. It's accompanied by some flat panels in the shape of whales and rectangles that say "gak" all over them.

I'm pretty sure these are the people behind them.

In other news:

- ArtsMemphis is kicking off their second season of Bravo tomorrow night at the Center for Southern Folklore. Bravo is a social club for young professionals to get involved with the arts through monthly events. The kick-off is free, and it's going to be a good time. There's going to be a rock'n'roll photo booth, fire dancing, music from the Bluff City Backsliders and food from the Majestic Grille. It starts at 6 p.m. tomorrow night.

- Bass Pro has announced what they're planning to do with the Pyramid now that they've got a lease. The development is going to be a sort of woodsy, Southern amusement park. The plans mention retail space, a waterfall, a "wildlife showcase" that will resemble a Mid-South swamp, an aviary, restaurants, and (somewhat inexplicably) a bowling alley.
