Summer Movies, a Volunteer Opportunity, and an Aww-Inducing Photo

Cecily in the water, Memphis Botanic Gardens

I stopped by the Memphis Botanic Gardens today to shoot some pictures of their kid-friendly garden, My Big Backyard. While I was there, I ran into Miss Cecily Smith, who was sitting in a puddle, happily munching on an apple.

In other news:

- The Orpheum has released their summer movie schedule. This year's season opens next Friday night with slacker classic "Ferris Bueller's Day Off".  I love the summer movie series because it's much more than movies - there's trivia, an organist, and a lot of costumes. This year's series of classic movies runs through September 17th.

- The Brooks Museum of Art is looking for volunteer docents. They're looking for creative, enthusiastic art lovers to give scheduled tours of the galleries. You don't have to have an art background to apply, just one free day per week.
