A hibiscus in the process of blooming at Otherlands, Memphis, Tenn.

And in other news:

- I just ran into Colleen Couch-Smith, one of the owners of Tsunami. She told me that she just finished the new bar at the restaurant. I haven't seen it finished, but it was looking great when I had dinner there a few weeks ago.

- Skatelife Memphis isn't going to win the Pepsico Grant this month, but they're going to try again in May. They need your help, though. At stake is a $250,000 grant from Pepsico to build a skate park in Binghampton.  They're going to try to get as many votes as possible in the first three days of May to push them to the front of the pack.  If they hit the top two spots in the first three days of May, we'll vote all month to help them stay there. If they don't, we're done voting.

- Tonight is the MPACT Memphis happy hour at R.P. Billiards. It's a casual event with free food, an open bar, and a chance to meet some of Memphis' best and brightest. The theme of the night is "Everyday is Earth Day", which means that local green businesses and organizations (Thigh High Jeans, Memphis City Beautiful, etc.) will be there.

Colleen did an awesome job on the new bar. (Such a sweet family.) BTW: I took your suggestion and tried the Oyster Stew at Sweet Grass. OMG! Another reason why living in Cooper-Young rocks...best restaurants in town, owned by some very special chef/owners. (But as the saying goes "There are a couple exceptions to every rule".)
