Reasons to Love Memphis #27 - The Hooper Troopers

It apparently doesn't matter if you're no good at holding a hula hoop around your waist in continuous motion. According to the Hooper Troopers, hoop dance is more about doing what you feel.

Hooper Trooper Abbey in action

The Hooper Troopers formed two years ago when friends Lindsey Murphy, Adriene Holland, Megan Simpson and Abbey Pommer saw people at music festivals dancing with colorful hula hoops and realized that Memphis didn't have any kind of hooping scene.

The Hooper Troopers can do some pretty impressive tricks with their hoops. But when they break out their hoops with LED lights inside, you can't help but be kind of awed. After they finished a class at the House of Talent last, they turned off the lights and showed off their LED hoops.

The Hooper Troopers are even more impressive in the dark

Currently, the Troopers teach ongoing classes for kids at the House of Talent and workshops for adults in order to promote the fitness, freedom and play that can come from hooping.

I remember hoopers being at shows at least ten years ago. Is this a different group?
