The Guys at Comics and Collectibles Know Their Stuff
The Guys at Comics and Collectibles Know Their Stuff
At the suggestion of my friend Zach, I stopped by Comics and Collectibles in East Memphis this afternoon.
The comic shop is located on Poplar Ave. in East Memphis (just east of Perkins). It's been open since 1986, and they stock classic comics, graphic novels, t-shirts, posters and action figures.
Zach suggested that I ask Donny (one of the shop boys) to suggest something for me since I don't read many comics. Donny was totally friendly and took me over to what he called the "arty" section (where the graphic novels are kept). He pointed out a few books before suggesting Alison Bechdel's "Fun Home: a Family Tragicomic".
Comics and Collectibles also has "Under Pressure", which is the first printed volume of Let's Be Friends Again, a web comic made by Memphians Chris Haley and Curt Franklin.
If you like comics, stop by. The clerks are friendly, there are tons of books, and judging by the first few pages of "Fun Home", they make great suggestions.
