Lunch at Memphis Pizza Cafe

Slices from Memphis Pizza Cafe

Memphis Pizza Cafe is one of my favorite places to have lunch. The local chain is inexpensive, has a lot of menu options (but not too many), and it’s remarkably consistent.

The East Memphis location (on Park, between Mendenhall and White Station) is always completely packed around lunchtime, but the Midtown and Germantown locations are usually a bit more sane.

Today, I had a slice of Ultimate Cheese (it has at least four different kinds of cheese on it) and one of Canadian Bacon (more commonly known as ham). The thin crust slices were big and super hot when they came to the table (but they came with a knife and fork, which was perfect).

Memphis Pizza Cafe has specialty pizzas, create-your-own pizzas, sandwiches, calzones and salads. And this:

Hey, meat!

Hey, meat!

I’m referring to the “Hey Meat!” pizza, which has pepperoni, sausage, Canadian Bacon, beef and bacon crumbles. I’m just not sure how to read it. Is it, casual like “Hey, look – it’s meat!” or is it an expression of joy, more along the lines of Hey Ho, Let’s Go!”?

You should definitely make a stop at Memphis Pizza Cafe. It’s great for groups and kids, and it’s very affordable (my two slices and a coke worked out to about $7.)

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.
