Michelle Bush is a local singer-songwriter and guitar teacher. She was kind enough to answer a few easy questions about Memphis for me yesterday.

Check out Michelle’s original songs and find out when she’s playing around town on her MySpace page.

Of course filmmaker Craig Brewer loves Memphis. The city has been an undeniable inspiration to his work (most of his movies have been shot in Memphis and feature some local music and actors).  His most recent Memphis-themed project, 5 Dollar Cover, was about the lives of a handful of Memphis musicians.

Her reaction to her win was priceless.
Deidra was kind enough to let me do the asking this afternoon at Muddy’s Bakeshop:

While we were at Muddy’s, a few [...]

A lot of you know this, but I carry the I Love Memphis sign around with me just about everywhere. It’s always folded in half and tucked in the back of my notebook.

Memphians are an opinionated bunch. I asked a simple question – “Who’s got the best breakfast in Memphis”. I got at least two dozen answers, a lot of persuasion and a healthy dose of smack talk.

There had to be a better way. A somewhat scientific system for determining who’s breakfast reigns supreme.

I hosted a Halloween party on Saturday night called Hallomeme. The idea was that people would come dressed as their favorite internet meme. I went as a Fail Whale (a big thank you to the nice guy at Vineyard Vines who gave me one of their pink foam whale hats). People showed up dressed as [...]
