Happy Monday, everybody. I found out about a few things over the weekend that I thought y’all might be interested in.

First up – did you know that the video for Loretta Lynn’s “Portland” was shot in Memphis? I didn’t until my Facebook buddy Brian Crider pointed it out. The parts of the video featuring Loretta Lynn and Jack White were shot at Earnestine & Hazel’s on South Main.

Secondly, I stopped by the P&H Art Bazaar over the weekend and ran into Alice and Michael from Five in One. They mentioned that they’re going to be selling holiday gifts by local artists in their space on North Watkins from 2 p.m. – 9 p.m., Dec. 15 – 22. If you’re still trying to find the right special something for someone, check out their Memphis-themed screen printed t-shirts, embroidered hats, bags, jewelry, cards, magnets and stickers.

In a bit of sad news, I’m bummed to report that my favorite local wing shop, Hephzibah (on Park) appears to be closed. I drove past the bright red storefront last week, and all of the chairs are gone and there’s a closed sign in front of it. The paintings of the lions and text proclaiming their smoked wings to be the “PRODUCT OF LIFE!” are still there.

And since I can’t end this post on such a sad note, you should go download Oh Holy Crap, this year’s Makeshift Music Christmas album. It features holiday songs from Two Way Radio, Jump Back Jake, Star and Micey and other Memphis bands. It’s free to download the whole thing as a zip file.
