The Triumph of HonorApril 13, 7:30 am-8:30 pm
Anchoring our 2018 Midtown Opera Festival is an opera about modern love written 300 years ago. It’s funny – the more things change, the more they stay the same.
Riccardo and Rodimarte are two friends traveling through Italy, getting in trouble with the law and love along the way. Leonora and Doralice are frenemies, fighting over Riccardo and trekking across the Italian countryside after him. Meanwhile, Leonora’s brother is vying for Doralice’s attention and vows to avenge her honor which was damaged when Riccardo slept with both ladies. Who will win Riccardo’s love, and who will win in the duel for the ladies’ honor?
