Michaela Compton host of Local Licks Songwriter Sessions brings in special guests Mersaidee Soules, Will Stults, and Tony Hooper as we present perhaps our most diverse line-up to date. Here are bios of the performers:
Mersaidee Soules is from Ontario, Canada. She has been a writer and performer in Nashville for over a decade. She is a previous winner of the Mid-Atlantic songwriting competition. One of her songs has been recorded recorded by a major artist. That track has aired both on the TV hit show Crime and Punishment and on Dawson’s Creek. She has released one Christmas album and two contemporary country CDs: Honest and Such A Beautiful Life. Mersaidee’s soaring vocals are incomparable and sure to please performing at Bluebird Cafe, Local Licks and many other songwriter venues. She is the coordinator of NSAI – North Mississippi Chapter.
Michaela Compton was raised in Las Vegas NV, surrounded by an array of musical influences. She has over 25yrs experience in the music industry as a performing vocalist, her style ranging from contemporary rock to contemporary Christian. Her songs and voice have been referred to as soulful and heartfelt, writing about personal experiences and singing with genuine emotion. She is the producer/host of Local Licks Songwriter Sessions on Z98.5FM, North Mississippi. Along with Tony Hooper, she fronts the band Of Warriors & Poets.
Performing Songwriter Will Stults’ songs have been called heartfelt, spiritual, and hilarious. They are often setup with crazy stories from Will’s life. It’s been said things happen to Will that just don’t happen to other people. Will has shared his way with a hook and melody across the Southeast at venues ranging from The Bluebird Cafe, Jim Parker’s Songwriter Showcase, Eddie Owens Presents, Moonlight On The Mountain, The Listening Room and Local Licks. Will is the Co-coordinator of NSAI North Alabama.
Tony Hooper’s life-long career as a musician includes an extensive catalog of original songs and countless albums. He has a Gold Record with “I Could Sing of Your Love Forever” EMI. Tony mentors over 30 young men and women weekly and participates annually in Camp Electric in Nashville. He is a member of the acclaimed Blues Counsel with Will McFarlane and Rick Cua. He also co-leads Of Warriors & Poets with Michaela Compton. Along with his incomparable songwriting and guitar skills, Tony’s voice is soulful and pleasing to the ear. Tony aka “Hoop” also produces full-band demos and albums from his studio. His clients include up-and-coming songwriters to well-known established artists.
