Marco Alexander’s Road to FrictionMarch 18, 2017, 7:00 pm-10:00 pm
Pop recording artist Marco Alexander imagines a show specifically for the historic and contemporary spirit of Clayborn Temple.
The set list for this night was also strategically set in order to inspire where we are as a human race, specifically in the southern region of the U.S. Marco is set to perform songs from his 2017 debut EP Friction, including singles “Follow Your Heart” and “Gone” among others. He will also be performing his contribution to the fight against child gun violence, titled “Unexpected Angels,” released in 2013. This show will mix the concept of a TEDTalk with a live concert performance, as Marco tells the story of how he got to where he is.
The show is also unique in the context of not using a full traditional band. Instead, there will be a DJ (which you rarely see with a pop artist) and a septet string ensemble featuring members of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Jackson Symphony Orchestra, and others. Marco has written and arranged string parts just for this show. You will hear songs from where he started and from where he is headed.
