“44 PAGES,” a 90-minute documentary chronicling the history, process and philosophy behind the Highlights brand and the most-read children’s magazine in North America, is coming to the Malco Studio on the Square on November 5. The film, directed by Tony Shaff, follows the creation of the 70th anniversary issue of Highlights, and explores how this essential part of childhood is not only still relevant, but thriving in today’s digital world. The heartwarming documentary provides a much-deserved spotlight on the unique Highlights story, introducing viewers to the lovable and quirky cast of characters who thoughtfully produce the magazine each month for their young readers. “44 PAGES” premiered on the film festival circuit earlier this spring, garnering positive reviews, and is now touring across the country making stops in select cities for screenings and events.
“44 PAGES” will make its Memphis debut at the Malco Studio on the Square for a one-night only festival screening on Sunday, November 5. At the screening, guests can enjoy giveaways and exciting Highlights merchandise as they take their seats. Following the film screening, attendees can participate in a Q&A with director Tony Shaff.
