Hematology by Kris Keys: Opening ReceptionJanuary 12, 5:00 pm-7:00 pm
ArtUp is pleased to announce an exhibition in partnership with Fashion Designer and Illustrator, Kris Keys. Kris is known for her dreamy watercolor travel illustrations and textiles engaging subjects from women around the world.
The exhibition includes textile works, designs, and a live art performance from Kris’ travel wear collection, Hematology. This color palette and silhouette of this collection is inspired by a blood disorder that Kris was diagnosed with as a young child. She uses the watercolor prints of her blood cells to transfer her obstacles of living with this blood disorder into beautiful garments and art for women. Curated by Kimberly Jacobs (Joyce Blackmon Curatorial Fellow at The Brooks Museum), the Hematology exhibition dissects Kris’ design work and research journey towards creating this collection.

Founded by Linda Steele in 2017, ArtUp advances entrepreneurship in arts, culture, and creative industries with the goal of fostering a more equitable and inclusive creative economy in Memphis and all over the nation. We empower traditional and non-traditional artists, artisans, and creatives to turn their ideas into viable businesses, and to grow their already existing creative businesses into fully sustainable enterprises. We advocate for the principle that grassroots creative businesses can bring low-barrier employment, fresh revenue, and missing services to underresourced
communities, and ignite social change from within. ArtUp is based in the new South Main Artspace Lofts on St. Paul Avenue.
