African Inspired Pop-Up BoutiqueJuly 28, 2017, 5:00 pm-9:00 pm

412 S Main Street
Memphis, 38013

Somi Décor and Texstyle Bags team up to showcase their line of Nigerian inspired home décor, handbags and fashion accessories at a joint pop up boutique in the heart of the Historic South Main Arts District located at 412 S Main Street. This duo has a passion to bring light and vibrancy of their culture to the city of Memphis. The pop up boutique will open during the South Main Art Trolley Night on Friday July 28th from 6:30-9pm, with a private viewing from 5 -6:30pm.

“Exposing our city to different cultures has always been a mission of mine. When I met these two female entrepreneurs, who also happened to be from my native country of Nigeria, I immediately saw an opportunity to lend a helping hand”, says Ephraim Urevbu, artist and owner of the building the pop up shop will make its debut.

Attendees can expect to enjoy high quality prints from the best West African textile markets. The space will be transformed into a cultural experience. “We are stronger together, learning from each other’s experiences and successes, united as women. Partnering with Texstyle Bags not only celebrates the beauty of collaboration, but also sharing culture, and how it transcend borders. This is an opportunity to come together and celebrate diversity,” says Ewea Pettis, founder and owner of Somi Décor.

“Partnering with Somi Decor means that more Memphians will get to experience the intersecting worlds of fashion and artistic craftsmanship through the use of bright, bold Nigerian prints with a modern design,” says Samilia Colar, Nigerian founder and CEO of Texstyle and graduate of Memphis College of Art.
Both Somi Décor and Texstyle have sold exclusively online and in boutiques around the country. This Pop up will have the public enjoy a taste of Nigerian culture through a variety of home goods, accent pillows, handbags, neckties, and jewelry and wall art. The pop up boutique will be located at 412 S Main St, adjacent to Art Village Gallery in downtown Memphis, TN.
