365 Things to Do in Memphis #116: Tour A Local Brewery

Updated April 2019

Memphians love locally-brewed beer. We drink it in bars, we buy it in six packs, we hover at local festivals,

Assignment #116 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to tour one of the city's seven local brewery taprooms.

Ghost River Bottle Cap, Memphis, Tenn. Go to the Ghost River Brewery in South Main and see where the magic is made. Ghost River was the first local brewery to distribute their beer in town.

Going west to east, there's High Cotton Brewing in the Medical District, Crosstown Brewing in Crosstown, Memphis Made Brewing and Bosco's Brewpub in midtown, Wiseacre Brewing on Broad Avenue in East Memphis, and Meddlesome Brewing in Cordova.

Most, but not all, of the breweries offer tours at certain points. Some require reservations, others are more of a "show up at this time". All of the taprooms have fun events (bingo, trivia, comedy, live music, etc.) and are family and leashed-dog friendly.

Check out the detailed guide to Memphis breweries here.
