Rejoice, Meat Lovers! BurgerFest Returns
Best Memphis Burger Fest is back, under new ownership and with a new name. This post has details for the 2018 event, which returns to Tiger Lane on October 27.
This year will be different than past years. First off, it’s now called BurgerFest Memphis. The folks from Southwood Entertainment (they run the Mid-South Fair, among other events) purchased the event’s concept from founder Seth Agranov and are making a few changes.
BurgerFest Memphis will be on Saturday, Oct. 27 from noon to 10 p.m. There will be a burger bar, local beers, live music courtesy of GonerRecords and i96, and a kids’ area. There won’t be any competing teams offering samples this year, but that part of the event will come back for 2019 BurgerFest Memphis.
General admission is $10, which gets you in the door. You can buy food from vendors or full-sized burgers and fries and the burger bar. Chef Tamara Eddy is in charge of the burgers, which is awesome news. Not only does Chef Tam run Chef Tam’s Underground restaurant in Cooper Young, known for its indulgent Southern-Creole dishes, but she’s also the winner of Guy’s Grocery Games on the Food Network.
If you want to sample burgers, you’ll need a sampling ticket for $20 ($25 at the event) which gets you three burger samples and five beer samples. They do have VIP tickets for $50 that include a full bar and food.
I’ll update with more details as soon as I receive them. Part of the proceeds of the event will go to the Mid-South Food Bank.
