365 Things to Do in Memphis #281: Eat All the Cheese at Bari

If you love cheese as much as I do, you're going to love assignment no. 281 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis: sample all of the cheeses at Bari Ristorante.

On Saturday night, in honor of a friend's birthday, we all went to Bari on a mission: to eat all of the cheese.

Bari has this deal where, if you call in advance, they'll bring you samples of every cheese on their menu on a silver platter.

When our tray of cheeses came out, it honestly didn't look like much. Each cheese was presented as a small sample with a little toothpick flag nametag sticking out of it.

Though it didn't look like a ton of cheese at first, it was enough that the four of us were almost unable to finish it. Even in tiny sample format, more than 30 types of cheese is a lot of cheese.

On its own, cheese doesn't make a good dinner. We paired ours with lardo, proscuitto, salads (including the incredible lattuga salad) and a bottle of red wine.

To try all of the cheeses, you must make a reservation in advance. I recommend bringing at least four people (but no more than six) and splitting the cost.

Kerry. You're great. I love your blog. And usually I agree with everything you say. But cheese on its own not being a good dinner? That's just wrong. Just give me that entire table and a bunch of wine, and I'm GOOOOOD. I'm probably also sick, but in a good way. I think.

I kind of agree with you, but I felt like I needed to act just a little more normal in public. Normal people don't think cheese is a meal, right?
