365 Things to Do in Memphis #148: Take the Cup

Posted by Holly Whitfield | May 27th 2018 1189 0

Every kitchen in Memphis has at least one cup from either Central Barbecue, Soul Fish, Swanky’s Taco or the Young Ave. Deli. Some of you (you know who you are) have a full set of 12 that you bring out for dinner parties.

Assignment #148 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to take your cup with you:

Memphis cups, Memphis, Tenn.

That’s my collection – cups from Victory Bicycle Studio, Central Barbecue and a vintage 1985 Final Four cup.

Take stock of your cabinets – how many do you have?

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.

I'm embarrassed to admit that our primary source for cups in our house are the Central cups, with some Soul Fish and Young Avenue cups sprinkled in for good measure.  Oh, don't forget the pint glasses from keep your cup night at the Saucer.

Uncle Lou's, too, if you happen to find yourself on that side of the loop.

Garibaldi's cups fill my cabinets.  It's scary.

I just moved to Memphis about 2 weeks ago, and I already have a nice collection of Fino's cups 🙂

Whoa, I want my hands on that vintage Final Four cup. That's amazing!

I work downtown and my desk decor is made up of plastic cups from Gus's
