What do you get when you put together dozens of Memphis musicians, loads of delicious food, and local small businesses by the river at the end of Memphis in May’s monthlong festival?

Assignment #145 in the 365 Things To Do In Memphis is to celebrate Memphis at 901 Fest.

Started in 2016, 901 Fest is all about Memphis: music, food, great organizations, and more. It’s usually held on the final Saturday in May at Tom Lee Park.

The gates for 901 Fest open at 3 p.m. and close at 10 p.m. Expect live music going on at three stages all afternoon, plus arts performances, an air show, lots of vendors and tents (including I Love Memphis), and of course, loads of food from popular restaurants and food trucks.

Tickets are $9 online in advance or $10 at the gate. Unlike other Memphis In May events, kids 6 and under can get in for free. The event is definitely family-oriented, though as always parents should check out the individual bands before you take the little ones up to the front row.

See the full music, food, and vendor lineups here.

The other event that finishes out Memphis in May is the Great American River Run half marathon and 5K, which takes place the day after 901 Fest aka the final Sunday in May. Get more info on the run and after-party here.

Ed. Note: The original #145, published in 2012, was to play the Battle Zone game at Golf & Games on Summer Avenue. Battle Zone is no longer there, so we have a new #145!

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.

This sounded super fun so I took my 11-year old sister there a couple of weekends ago, only to be disappointed by the fact that Battle Zone was closed. The employee told us that they were trying to get rid of it.

I just wanted to post this so others would know this is no longer in working conditions.

Thank you. And I love this site!
