Maciel’s Tacos On The Highland Strip

Your beloved downtown Memphis taco shop now has a new location on the Highland Strip.

As of February 15, 2018 you can get your favorite tacos, tortas, sauces, and more at Maciel’s Highland – plus this new location has a full bar (hello margaritas! ) and a patio (praise be!)

I got a sneak peek.

Yes, the Tyvek on the windows is a nice touch. I’ll update the photos once they’re officially open and I can make it over to eat some more Memphis tacos. Maciel’s Highland will have all of your favorites (tortas, quesadillas, tacos, soups) from the downtown location plus more. Read more about the food here and see the Maciel’s menu here.

People love Maciel’s because the food is always fresh, the flavors are strong and tasty, and it’s not your every day Tex Mex. Read more about the chef, Manuel Martinez, in this Memphis Flyer article.

Here’s the front. You can’t miss it. This spot used to be R.P. Billiard’s, and before that it was the notorious Highland Cue bar. Below is a look at the patio. You can see a few more videos of the inside on our Instagram Highlights.

I’ll be honest, parking is not great. There’s a parking lot behind the Strip (as in, behind Newby’s, Bluff, etc.) and street parking in the area. If you live in the area, this is a great excuse to bike or walk if you can.

Mezcal Mojito. Only get this if you know and like Mezcal.

Maciel’s will be open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. You can definitely call ahead for to-go orders at 901-504-4584.

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.
