5 Reasons To Go To A Memphis Redbirds Playoffs Game

Ed. Note: I'll keep it short and sweet: the Redbirds are kicking butt this season. Here's Veena to tell us why this is the most exciting Redbirds season yet.

Updated September 12, 2017

In case you hadn’t heard, our very own professional baseball team is having a pretty impressive season. As of the writing of this article, this season’s Redbirds are the winningest team in franchise history, notching up their 88th 91st victory.

As we gear up for the playoffs, here are some highlights from this season and some reasons to get excited. Scroll down for the game schedule.

1. 88 91 wins! Yes, I am repeating myself, but that’s a pretty spectacular number. Our boys have won almost twice as many games as they’ve lost this season, and the season’s not over yet. Those 91 victories are a new franchise record, besting the previous record of 83 wins set in 2000 (not coincidentally, the same year this writer moved to Memphis). As an added bonus, the 84th victory came on Eclipse Day.

2. The best record in AAA. The team with the next highest number of wins, the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, have won 80 games, so the Redbirds are guaranteed to finish with the best record in AAA for the 2017 season.

3. Three-plus months without losing a series. For the better part of the season, the Redbirds didn’t lose a single series. That’s a quite a feat and a big reason why the birds clinched their playoff berth on August 13th with three weeks left to go in the season.

4. A lot of fun new promotions. The Redbirds debuted some new promotions this season, including Thirsty Thursdays and All-You-Can-Eat nights, which are a particular favorite of this writer. Promotions will continue in the playoffs: the first 5,000 fans on September 6th and 7th will receive a hat with the new Redbirds logo, and there will be $2 beers throughout the playoffs.

5. A return to the playoffs - updated: AMERICAN CONFERENCE CHAMPS! After a brief hiatus the Redbirds are returning to the playoffs for the first time since 2014. The 'birds clinched their conference championship on
