5 Things To Do This Weekend: 7/21 – 7/23
Happy Friday! Here are the five things you won’t want to miss in Memphis this weekend, plus a few extras.

1. Memphis Zine Fest, 438 N. Cleveland, Friday, 4 p.m. – 7 p.m., free, all ages
Avid zinesters and newbies alike will gather at Storybooth, and a youth zine workshop will be offered. Supplies provided to get you started, but feel free to bring your own imagery, drawings and art supplies.
2. Carpenter Art Garden’s 5-Year Art Show, 295 Carpenter Street, Friday, 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., $20 donation, all ages
Carpenter Art Garden’s five-year anniversary will feature garden tours and an art show with artwork for sale by the kids from Binghampton and the local artists who’ve taught them. Appetizers, beer and wine served. Proceeds benefit the Carpenter Art Garden.
3. Memphis Redbirds v. Las Vegas 51s, AutoZone Park, Friday – Sunday, $9 and up, all ages/kid-friendly
It’s another exciting homestand weekend for the Redbirds. Friday is Harry Potter night with $2 at the Block Party in the Plaza before the game. Saturday is “Princess + Pirate Night” (let the kids dress up) with a fidget spinner giveaway, $2 pre-game beers in the Plaza, and the second-to-last fireworks show of the season. Sunday is free ice cream for kids and post-game base running for the kids.
4. A Walk On DaSkreet With CCDE, Hi-Tone, Friday, doors at 7 pm, $10-$15,18+
Spend a night with local hip hop legend Jay Daskreet. The lineup includes high-energy rapper Jay, reggae group Chinese Connection Dub Embassy, the soul singers of Trifecta, and a cast of all-star special guests. Expect all-new music along with fan favorites from these Memphis staples.
5. 29th Annual WEVL Blues on the Bluff 2017, Saturday, 6 p.m. – 11 p.m.. National Ornamental Metal Museum, price info TBA, all ages
Celebrate another year of amazing Memphis music, featuring Ghost Town Blues Band, Marcella and her Lovers and The MD’s. Enjoy great food and drinks from one of the city’s most beautiful viewing spots over the Mississippi river.
