Safe Things To Do This Spring In Memphis

What’s going on in Memphis this spring? If you’re looking for socially-distanced things to do in Memphis this spring, here’s your list!

The Shelby County Health Department urges all of us to Continue The Course with masks and social distancing even after we’re fully vaccinated. For more info, check out Shelby.Community.

1. Memphis Spring Attractions

Visit some of our outdoors attractions:

2. Greenways and Trails

Shelby County has so many greenways and protected paths now—see if you can  explore them all this spring! There’s the classic Shelby Farms Greenline, the V&E Greenline, and all the different sections of the Wolf River Greenway.

3. Civil Rights History Tours

You can do a self-guided driving or biking civil rights tour, but if you haven’t taken a caravan car tour with A Tour Of Possibilities, it’s a Memphis bucket list item for sure.

For the self guided route, here are a few ideas for stops:

4. Parks

Y’all know how much I love a good park, and Shelby County has many of them. A few park ideas:

5. Find A Food Truck or Get A Takeout Picnic

Grab some great food you haven’t tried before and make a picnic! Check out the restaurants and food truck pages on I Love Memphis, or join the I Love Memphis Food Group on Facebook for lively discussion and up-to-date info. Restaurants are still doing takeout!

6. Virtual Museum Tours + Activities

If it’s a rainy day, check out our local museums! They’re limiting capacity and have safety and health guidelines in place. Or if you’re staying in, most of our favorites are offering virtual tours and online activities still:

7. Socially Distanced Outdoor Concerts

Live music is back, y’all! Local venues are hosting some fun and socially-distant outdoor shows coming up this spring:

8. Crosstown Concourse: Socially Distanced Exploring

If you haven’t checked out the million-square-foot Crosstown Concourse, what are you waiting for? The spacious building has plenty of room to spread out, and is full of incredible architecture and art, plus local shops and restaurants. Don’t forget they have patios, a large plaza, and Crosstown Brewing is just next door.

9. Children’s Museum of Memphis spring fun

We love CMOM and we love what they’re doing for spring! Every Saturday, the Children’s Museum hosts Spring Saturdays with special flower-themed activities and local food trucks. The inside exhibits are open for socially-distanced exploring for kids, too.

10. Museum of Science and History - Pink Palace: Dinosaurs In Motion Exhibit

It’s Dino madness at the Museum of Science and History aka the Pink Palace. With limited capacity, masks, and social-distancing, you can safely explore the museum’s permanent exhibits and the Dinosaurs In Motion display. Even better, they’re hosting FOSSIL FEST on March 27th and 28th, which will have mostly outdoor (but some indoor) activities, including the unveiling of the new mosasaur statue created by the Metal Museum.
