2017 River Series at Harbor Town Lineup

Head down to the river for some local music this year for the 2017 River Series at Harbor Town on Sunday afternoons. They’ve announced three shows, all of which are at the Harbor Town Amphitheater.

I like the River Series because it’s a way to see local bands that normally play late-night and indoors (sometimes in smoky venues) before your bedtime. This year, they’re throwing in some national artists as well.

The live music begins at 4 p.m., with guest DJs playing music starting at 3 p.m. and in between sets. All of the concerts are a donation of $5 at the door. The series, as always, benefits The Maria Montessori School and there’s usually food and beer for sale.

Here’s the spring lineup:

April 23
Rev. John Wilkins with Crystal Shrine (Kelley Anderson, formerly of Those Darlins)

May 21
Tobin Sprout (of Guided By Voices) with Elf Power

May 28
UK alt-rock legend Robyn Hitchcock with Robby Grant (Big Ass Truck/Vending Machine/Mouserocket)

The series is curated by Goner Records and Shoulder Tap Records, and is funded in part by a grant from the Downtown Memphis Commission. Other sponsors: Regional One Health, Goner Records, Shoulder Tap Records, Wiseacre Brewing, Miss Cordelia’s Grocery, The Memphis Flyer and Bluff City Pizza Company.

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.
