Beale Street Landing Free Tuesday Movies 2016

Posted by Holly Whitfield | June 10th 2016 3629 2

IMPORTANT UPDATE: the movie for June 14 has been cancelled. Here is the explanation provided:

“No movie tonight at Beale Street Landing. The screen and projector for tonight’s Twilight Tuesday movie night were involved in a car accident during transport to Beale Street Landing. We’ve searched the city for other screens large enough for the grass roof and none is available within this timeframe. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

Starting on June 14 21, Beale Street Landing will show free movies on a 24-foot screen every Tuesday through June and July. These “Twilight Tuesdays” all begin at 8:30 p.m. on the grassy roof of Beale Street Landing.

Here’s the schedule;

June 14: WALL-E (cancelled)

June 21: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest

June 28: The Avengers

July 4: The Wizard of Oz

July 12: Young Frankenstein

July 19: Shrek

July 26: Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens

Bring your chairs and blankets, but leave coolers, picnic baskets, and pets at home. There are supposed to be food trucks nearby, or you could order something to-go from The Riverfront Bar & Grill (which closes at 9 p.m.) or get there early to eat. Read more info here.

All the movies are pretty kid-friendly (Young Frankenstein has some innuendo) but as always, parents should check out the films ahead of time to make sure they’re ok for your family.

    Last night was wonderful. Great breeze from the river and full Strawberry Moon overhead. The move was not the advertised Pirates of the Caribbean. Turns out The Avengers were ahead of schedule. It was a great night to communion under the stars with neighbors and fellow Memphians.
