Party Alert: "The Filling Station" is Coming to Broad Avenue This Friday

ArtsMemphis is hosting a free party this Friday at 8 p.m. at the Broad Avenue Water Tower Pavilion. It's the 2nd Annual ArtsAccelerator Launch Party and there will be beer, food, art to experience and buy, danceable tunes and more…and it's totally free to attend.

The main attraction will be four Memphis artists (Coriana Close, Alex Paulus, Matthew Thomas and Niles Wallace) who are turning four trailers into "inviting environments for party goers to enter and experience". I can't wait to see what they come up with.

The whole idea is that the party is free to enter, so you can use your extra bucks to support the ArtsAccelerator and individual artists by purchasing the limited edition pieces that will be for sale. Wiseacre beer and truck-stop themed treats will be for sale (snow cones, popsicles, pickles, and pork rinds). DJ Zac Ives will spin some danceable tunes, and Five in One Social Club will do live T-shirt printing demonstrations.

If you're not familiar with ArtsAccelerator, it's an initiative by ArtsMemphis that provides grants to individual local artists. One of last year's recipients was Brandon Marshall, whose grant allowed him to establish the Orange Mound Mural ProjectYou can read more about last year's ArtsAccelerator projects here.

I know where you are talking about from the photo, but I've never heard it called the "Broad Avenue Water Tower Pavilion".  An invitation without an address is like a story with no ending.

It's a pretty new name for the venue. Hopefully this will give some more information - http://www.broadavearts.com.php53-5.dfw1-2.websitetestlink.com/water-tower-pavilion/

The address given is: "Broad Avenue between Hollywood and the railroad tracks, Memphis, TN 38112". If you needed to GPS, you could use the address for Five In One Social Club (2535 Broad Avenue) and then just look across the street.
