This Saturday is the Very First Moon River Music Festival - (Giveaway Ended)
This Saturday marks the first year for the Moon River Music Festival, a project from Memphis native Drew Holcomb. In addition to being the headliner with his band The Neighbors, Drew will bring a group of Southern (many from Tennessee) musicians to play all day long at the Levitt Shell.
This is not one of the Levitt Shell's free shows; tickets are $25 for all day access, which is a great deal.
**Congrats to commenter Marie for winning the pair of tickets! Marie is most looking forward to seeing Ellie Holcomb this Saturday. Thanks to everyone who entered.**
But free is also a great deal, and I just happen to have a pair of tickets to give away. To win, comment on this post telling me which musician you're most looking forward to seeing, and I'll do a random drawing at the end of the day (5 ish).
The genres of most of the 13 acts at the one-day festival are in the vein of folk-americana-country-acoustic. You can get a free download of a mixtape for the Moon River Music Festival (aka a preview of the tunes) here. There aren't set times for each act, just a line-up order, which will be released this week. I'll update this post when I receive that.

Don't bring umbrellas, cameras with removable lenses (unless you have a photo pass), outside food or drink, or large bags. You'll want to bring sunscreen and a hat, money for food and drink vendors and if you need, small backpacks or bags, and strollers for the little ones.
In case you missed it, here's a video festival organizer Drew Holcomb made about his hometown. He's been promoting our fair city along with the festival, telling out-of-town attendees to hang around and enjoy the sights and tastes of Memphis, so if you
The festival will benefit several local Memphis charities – St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Soulsville Foundation and The Levitt Shell.
